Lovely Lalique France Riquewihr Pattern Ice Bucket/Vase

  
Rene Lalique designed this lovely Riquewihr Ice Bucket # 11955 in the 1930's. (He was born 1860 and lived until 1945). The bucket was initially intended to wash grapes ("Lave raisins") however as time went by it was used as both an ice bucket for white wine and for a vase.

This one is hand signed after Rene Lalique's death as "Lalique, France". I do not know the exact date as I believe these continued to be made through the beginning of the 1960's.

Rene Lalique is reported to have liked to name his glasses after cities in Alsace-where he was from. The ice bucket for sale was auctioned off from the Howell Collection of Burlington, North Carolina in the USA. It is in very good to excellent condition. No chips, cracks or signs of repair however there are some few surface scratches/shelf wear on the bottom of the glass and a few water stains evident. Nothing to distract from the beauty of the piece.

When filled with ice, water or flowers these minor aspects would not even be noticed. Quality craftsmanship and lovely presentation! The piece measures 5" in height and is 5" wide at the widest ring of the vase. Clear color of crystal with some frost for the banded grape and vine pattern.
